🤿 Gear Care 101: How to Extend the Life of Your Dive Equipment
Your dive gear is life-support equipment. Taking good care of it doesn’t just save you money; it ensures your safety in the water. Keep your gear in top condition with these simple maintenance habits:
- Rinse Thoroughly with Fresh Water: Salt crystals and chlorine destroy zippers, seals, and fabric. Always soak and rinse your gear inside and out after every single dive.
- Dry in the Shade: UV rays degrade neoprene and silicone rapidly. Hang your wetsuit, BCD, and fins in a well-ventilated, shaded area—never directly under the hot sun.
- Store Properly: Store your BCD partially inflated to prevent the bladder from sticking together, and ensure your regulators are stored without sharp kinks in the hoses.
Treat your gear well, and it will keep you safe and comfortable for hundreds of dives to come!
